Many years ago Brad realised the importance of sponsorship and the role
it played in a marketing sense and the community. Brad has had a close
association with the Starlight Foundation in the past and today is a major
sponsor to the Breakfree Foundation in the Sutherland Shire.

About
BJH Wines
BJH Wines are a family based company in the Sutherland Shire of Sydney
home of the 2000 Olympic games. This was the year the company was formed.
After 15 years in the wine industry it felt appropriate that Brad venture
out and apply all of the experience he had had gained working with other
companies and try it for himself. The BJH company initially set out
to act as agents for Wineries trying to expose there brands in Direct
Mail. Today the company has some agency agreements, however produces
its own table wines. Arrangements have been made with growers in the
Hunter Valley, Riverina ,King Valley, Merbein ,Mudgee and Cowra who
send there produce to a bottling plant whereby the BJH wines can be
bottled and labelled. Over the many years of being in the wine industry
Brad has met many people and these contacts predominately are know either
working for or with Brad to ensure quality control are the foremost
consideration.
History
BJH stands for Bradley John Humphries and he was in Griffith NSW in
1965 .Ironically his first Job was as a cellar hand at McWilliams
wines. This signalled interest in the Wine Industry. Brad has since
worked in sales, marketing and management for De Bortoli, Miranda
Wines and Westend Estate. Brad has a philosophy and it's simple. "Without
your past you don't have a future and if you have been a decent person
you should be proud of your past". With this in mind Brad keeps
in touch with former colleagues and has many mentors in the wine industry.
"I was very fortunate to have known and worked with Deen De Bortoli
Chairman of DeBortoli Wines who suddenly passed away in 2003. The
industry has many icons but Deen epitomised that working hard and
smart gets you somewhere in life and if you have a vision ,go hard
and believe you can make it happen." Brads biggest success in
the industry came from direct mail selling. He has sold nearly 1 million
cases of wine in his career and believes Direct mail which constitutes
25% of all wine sales has a solid foundation in the future. With this
in mind BJH Wines can be found throughout direct mail packs throughout
Austalia.

Did
You Know? |
Since
exports are a significant percentage of total Australian production
and demand is growing in Europe and the United States, a varietal
wine must contain at least 85 percent of the grape named, compared
to 75 percent in the U.S. Blended wines such as semillon-chardonnay
must specify the percentage of each grape in the blend. Wines
originating in a particular district must contain at least 85
percent of wine from that district. Additionally, all Australian
wine for export is subjected to strict analysis and controls by
the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation."

Wine Making Process |
|

|
The
selection process is two teared in that for brands such as Paynes
Crossing and Forty Foot Hill winemakers with whom I have had long
association provide samples of wine made from grapes that BJH
has purchased or is about to purchase. This allows us to source
the best fruit prior to bottling unlike some wineries who may
experience a bad year thus affecting there quality.
